Amateur photographers are being asked to get snap happy and help raise funds for National Talking Newspapers & Magazines (NTN & M), a national charity which provides visually impaired and print disabled people with newspapers and magazines in a variety of accessible formats.
The Heathfield-based charity is inviting children and adults to send in photographs based on the theme of countryside and wildlife for its 2010 fundraising calendar. Submitted photographs will be automatically entered into competition and the best will be included in the calendar, which will be sold to raise funds.
The calendar will be professionally printed and there will be an exhibition of the winning photographs. These will also be posted on the charity's website.
"This is a great opportunity for people to see their photos published and help raise much-needed funds for a unique charity at the same time," explained Thelma Hamilton, Fundraising Officer for National Talking Newspapers and Magazines
"National Talking Newspapers and Magazines provides a lifeline for 7,000 people, not just in the UK but around the world, by offering the same access to newspapers and magazines enjoyed by sighted people This helps blind and print disabled people achieve a level independence and choice most of us take for granted. We transcribe more than 200 popular titles enabling our subscribers to keep up-to-date with news and current affairs as well as a host of leisure and entertainment activities."
Full details of the competition and entry requirements can be viewed at www.tnauk.org.uk or email calendar@tnauk.org.uk for further information. The closing date for entries is 19th June 2009.
