The 21st September performance raised £450. We should like to express our thanks to all those who have helped us with this event particularly the following:-
The great strength of the Talking Newspaper movement, since its inception way back in 1970, has lain n its plendid rmy of volunteers In 540 Talking Newspapers across the country and in the National Talking Newspapers and Magazines at Heathfield, countless women and men from all avenues of life work tirelessly to bring an astonishing range of newspapers and magazine to visually-imaired pople who would otherwise be dened access to information readily available to others However, n ontent it selecting, reading and recoringreams of work, many volunteers also contribute untold hours towards raising funds to help pay for the invaluable but unavoidably expensive service that TNAUK provides. The proceeds will go towards supporting TNAUK, whose work is, to use that much mis-applied word, unique. As far as we know, there is no other organisation doing quite the same thing.
It is, therefore, imperative that Talking Newspapers continues doing what it does, even in economically stringent times. Suffice it to say that with volunteers like these performers, prepared to cntribute their talents, the charity has every reason to feel hopeful about its future.
