Sea Hear!

In June, a small garden was created for TNAUK at BBC Gardeners' World Live 2006 at the NEC, Birmingham. The garden was called "Sea Hear" and was designed to be enjoyed by visually impaired people as well as the fully sighted. "Sea Hear" was designed for TNAUK by Tracy Foster, a garden designer from Leeds, creating her first ever show garden.

The event was a great success both for Tracy and TNAUK, winning an RHS Gold medal as well as the award for Best Small Garden. Tracy, our ambassador Nicole Davy and CEO Tim McDonald were all interviewed by radio and press and talked about the charity and its services. The garden was also visited by a host of celebrity gardeners, including Monty Don and Alan Titchmarsh.

The aim of "Sea Hear" was to remind people of the value of relaxation time and promote the hobby and leisure magazines that TNAUK makes available to people who can't subscribe in the traditional fashion. Over the days of the show, we talked to thousands of people and although many were aware of local TNs, they did not know about the 250 titles available through TNAUK. We hope that those who visited "Sea Hear" will help with TNAUK's mission to 'spread the word'.
