Snap away and help us raise money! We're running a photo competition and the pick of the crop will be included in our fundraising calendar for 2010. The calendar will be professionally printed and there will also be an exhibition of the winning photographs. The closing date for entries is 19th June 2009. "This is a great opportunity for people to see their photos published and help raise much-needed funds for a unique charity at the same time," says Thelma Hamilton, Fundraising Officer. "National Talking Newspapers and Magazines provides a lifeline for 7,000 people, not just in the UK but around the world, by offering the same access to newspapers and magazines enjoyed by sighted people This helps blind and print disabled people achieve a level independence and choice most of us take for granted. We transcribe more than 200 popular titles enabling our subscribers to keep up-to-date with news and current affairs as well as a host of leisure and entertainment activities." National Talking Newspapers and Magazines: Photo Competition Entry Requirements: The organisers of the competition is National Talking Newspapers and Magazines, registered charity number 293656. Theme * British Countryside and Wildlife - everything from classic landscapes and wildlife shots to people working in or enjoying the countryside. Your Images * The minimum image requirement is for images of 4 mega pixels or greater resolution - broadly no less than at least 2400 by 1600 pixels Submitting images * No more than three images can be submitted per person * Only full colour images can be accepted * Please do not send a high resolution image at this stage. Image files for submission should be resized to a maximum of 900 pixels longest side and saved as jpg files with a file size no larger than 200k * Do not submit images if you do not have a high resolution original (see above) * No responsibility can be taken by the organisers for images that are submitted backwards or incorrectly orientated * Send your final images to calendar@tnauk.org.uk * In your email, please also include your full name, a contact telephone number and basic information about where the image was taken e.g. place and county. Please also indicate where you saw details of the competition. Resizing and file naming * To avoid confusion, please rename your files with your surname then first name followed by the image number (up to 3). So, for example, smithjohn1.jpg. Please do not include capital letters spaces or any other characters in your file names. * All images will be cross-referenced, by the organisers, with a unique identifying number, so that judging is completely anonymous and based on the image alone. Copies Please ensure that you keep copies of submitted images. The organisers will take all reasonable steps to ensure the safe storage and back-up of entries, but cannot be held responsible for exceptional circumstances Other criteria * Images are to be taken in the UK only * You must be the image copyright holder * Images must have been taken within the last 5 years of the competition closing date * Images will be subject to cropping if required Judging * All images will be assessed by a panel of judges. * The winning images will feature in National Talking Newspapers and Magazines fundraising calendar for 2010 * The judges will select a maximum of 12 images for inclusion in the calendar. The judges will also select an overall winner from these 12 images * The judges decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into * All winners will be contacted by email and will have 10 days from the date of this email to supply a high resolution file * The organisers cannot be held responsible for emails that do not arrive due to the entrant's email security settings or restrictions placed by their Internet service provider * No payment will be made to the winners for the use of their images by the organisers * A list of the winners and their images will be published on National Talking Newspapers and Magazines website Closing date * The closing date for entries is 19th June 2009 (at midnight between the 19th and 20th June). Submissions received after this date will not be entered into the competition Copyright and permissions By submitting images to this competition, each entrant confirms and warrants that: * They are the sole author of each entry and that it is their original work * They own the copyright and any other intellectual property rights of each image * They have the permission of those pictured in the image (or where the image shows any persons under 18, the consent of their parent/guardian) for the usage rights required by the organisers and will indemnify National Talking Newspapers and Magazines against any claims made by any third parties in respect of such infringement * They have not licensed or disposed of any rights in the image that would conflict with the uses to be made by National Talking Newspapers and Magazines * They have received any necessary permissions from the owner(s) of buildings included in submitted images for the usage rights required by the organisers and will indemnify National Talking Newspapers and Magazines against any claims made by any third parties in respect of such infringement * By entering the competition you grant National Talking Newspapers and Magazines a non-exclusive irrevocable to reproduce, enlarge, publish or exhibit, on any media, the images for any purpose connected with the competition. Entrants also agree that the organisers can sub-license images to the media for reproduction in connection with the competition * Copyright of each image is retained by its respective photographer * Finalists agree to take part in post-competition publicity Thank you for your interest, we look forward to receiving your photographs.
